OUR STORY JAMES CRAIG HAIRCOLOR & DESIGN was established in 1984 as a small Saratoga business with three stylists. In 1989 the salon expanded to its present location, where it has grown into its current 3000 square-foot facility employing some 24 full- and part-time team members. JAMES CRAIG is a high quality, upscale progressive salon which specializes in haircoloring. Our number one concern is superior customer service and toward that end, we have created a unique program whereby any client can work with any team member. This eliminates the frustrating waiting lists that customers so often encounter as they wait for an appointment with their stylist. We are able to do this because we have established a close-knit team of professionals that offer consistent, quality service and maintain open lines of communication regarding client information. OUR BENEFITS EDUCATION & TRAINING Your training at JAMES CRAIG will be extensive and ongoing. We believe that the education you receive in your cosmetology program is just the beginning, a base upon which to build advanced skills. We are an education-driven company. Our four levels of skill certification, bronze through platinum, are designed to ensure technical excellence and total customer satisfaction. Your education will cover all facets of your career: technical skills, professional skills, and interpersonal skills. As each module is completed, you will be tested and moved up to the next level. Your compensation will be designed to reflect your increasingly sophisticated skills. MODERN COMPENSATION AND FINANCIAL SYSTEMS During your training you will move from straight salary to a uniquely structured base salary plus performance bonus system. Compensation is based not purely on production, but on your educational progress and also preset objectives such as customer service skills and client retention. In keeping with our philosophy of teamwork, employees also participate in a team-based profit sharing plan. This consists of profit-based incentive bonuses that are achieved through team accomplishments. SIMPLE IRA We currently provide a Simple IRA retirement plan in which members may elect to defer 3% of their salary which the salon then matches. MEDICAL BENEFITS Following your first three months you will be eligible to enroll in our medical, dental, and vision plans 50% of members premiums are covered by the salon. PAID VACATION All employees of JAMES CRAIG will accrue paid vacation time, starting on their first day of employment. Vacation benefits accrue at a rate of one week in the first year and second year, 2 weeks beginning in the 3rd year. Part-time employees earn vacation on a prorated basis appropriate for the hours worked. KAIZEN Kaizen is a Japanese word which, roughly translated, means continuous improvement.
